Statement of Intent

Statement of Intent:

In this document, I ensure not to include any harmful content such as violence and nudity that may offend or concern my audience within my posters. I feel as though this is particularly vital as my billboards are to be seen publicly. I will ensure not to promote any harmful activities such as smoking tobacco and inflicting abuse; I ensure to create posters that are suitable for viewership of all ages, complying to the regulations and guidelines set by the ASA.

The show will follow a young cast, tackling the effects of social media on teenagers. I intend to portray the show in a positive way, tackling the subject in a way that is engaging, educational and importantly mature, for my target audience- teenagers, and young adults (13-21). I want to portray the teenagers as real authentic teenagers, so dressing and looking like normal teenagers, so not looking overly glamorise, and wearing everyday clothes- jeans, t-shirts, jumpers etc. This helps solidify a sense of relatability from the audience, as it’s important to represent the audience authentically, and to ensure a positive ‘seen’ effect on viewers. To portray the obsessiveness of social media, I will use different people, all holding phones, with the brightness lighting up their face, in a room of darkness, building the sense of addiction, and how their phones are symbolically and literally becoming their only sources of light and energy. The show will appeal to the age demographic of 13-21, through displaying and showcasing the age group in the billboards. This will appeal to the target audience, as seeing themselves represented, will make them feel seen, and will therefore be more compelling to watch, as seeing our own generation discussing the damages of something so familiar, like social media, will undoubtedly feel empowering.
