  The Popularity of Documentaries The rise and popularity of documentaries is solidified within its ability, to educate, and inspire its viewers, whilst nonetheless, entertaining and engaging an audience. The immediate appeal of the genre is to the fact that documentaries portray a sense of authenticity and realism, that we often lack in more fictional stories that seek to purely entertain its audience. Continuing, documentaries help awaken new perspectives, and are often created in a form of activism, and hope to inform a wider audience of a specific subject matter and provoke wider conversations.   The History of Documentaries   The introduction to documentary filmmaking began in the late 19 th century, with unedited, non-fictional, clips being segmented together, to form what we now formerly refer to as a documentary. Pioneers of early film, the Lumière Brothers, created one of the earliest recognitions of documentary film, with ‘ The Arrival of a Train at La Ciotat Station’ . The film was a huge success, receiving immediate positive praise and immense engagement for its profound naturalism and richness to everyday life. Statement of Intent

Statement of Intent: In this document, I ensure not to include any harmful content such as violence and nudity that may offend or concern my audience within my posters. I feel as though this is particularly vital as my billboards are to be seen publicly. I will ensure not to promote any harmful activities such as smoking tobacco and inflicting abuse; I ensure to create posters that are suitable for viewership of all ages, complying to the regulations and guidelines set by the ASA. The show will follow a young cast, tackling the effects of social media on teenagers. I intend to portray the show in a positive way, tackling the subject in a way that is engaging, educational and importantly mature, for my target audience- teenagers, and young adults (13-21). I want to portray the teenagers as real authentic teenagers, so dressing and looking like normal teenagers, so not looking overly glamorise, and wearing everyday clothes- jeans, t-shirts, jumpers etc. This helps solidify a sense of...
